UPSC has invited online recruitment applications for selection to the following posts:

  • Medical Officer
  • Ayurvedic Medical Officer
  • Homeopathy Medical Officer

Written Examination – Structure & Marking Scheme

Mode of Examination:
Offline examination conducted in Pen & Paper Based mode.

Type of Questions:
Objective Type Questions consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Total Marks:
The examination carries a total of 300 marks.

Total Questions:
There are 300 questions, with 1 mark awarded for each correct answer.

Duration of Examination:
The total duration of the examination is 2 hours (120 minutes).

Language of Examination:
The question paper will be available in English and Hindi.

Negative Marking:
Yes. One-third (1/3) mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

Sectional Cut-Off:
There is no sectional cut-off. Selection is based on the overall cut-off marks.

Examination Centres:
The examination will be conducted at major cities across India, and centres will be allotted by UPSC.

How Are Candidates Selected?

1Written Examination (Objective MCQ)First stage of selection. All eligible applicants appear for a pen-and-paper based MCQ examination. Marks obtained in the written test determine shortlisting for the interview.
2Interview / Personality TestCandidates who qualify the written examination are called for the interview. The interview assesses subject knowledge, communication skills, personality, and suitability for government medical service.
3Document VerificationOriginal documents are verified, including educational qualifications, registration certificate, domicile certificate (where applicable), caste certificate, and other relevant documents.
4Final Merit ListThe final merit list is prepared based on the combined marks obtained in the Written Examination and Interview. Selected candidates are issued appointment orders.
